Often times, I find myself in a place that inspires writing. Last winter, I experienced the “day after” beauty of an ice storm while skiing in New Hampshire. The grey skies of yesterday were past and the rays of the sun reflected off every shimmering surface. That day, I wrote down the following phrases:
Embossed branch lines
Silver and gleaming with reflection
Soft glow of radiance
Amidst staggered, grey distances
The following is the final product of this poem. I hope you enjoy it!
I will awake to him.
The silver morning
will shimmer with radiance -
his and mine.
Joy I can reflect no more
with this bare, wintry scene
and staggered grey sky.
My love is distant.
I will awake to him
and the silver morning.
